This is one of the last photos of Charly taken, we stopped off for a run in the fields on our way back from the vets were she had just been diagnosed with a High Grade Mast Cell tumour, it was predicted she would have approximately a year left, we started Chemo on her the following week and just weeks later she went to the bridge after developing a gastric torsion, Gastric torsion or Bloat is a life threatening conditon, usually in large deep chested dogs and must be dealt with as an emergency there is no time to wait with this conditon, click the link to read more Gastric Torsion and be prepared. We don't know how or why she got it I have always been careful about feeding times and exercise and always thought the conditon only affected larger dogs, I suspect the chemo treatment had weakened her. By the time we got her to the vets at 3am on the 3rd October it was too late, after kissing her goodby we left her to be prepared for her operation, she died within minutes of us driving off for home to await her operation. Some of her ashes are scattered at her favorite spot on the beach we which we visit daily.
